Chapter 2

Her best friend, the cricket "Orion," lived on a wooden plank next to her. Orion had a bed that was as big as a blade of grass at the eastern shore of the Titicaca-Lake. Arnica's parents had died the year before, and so Orion was her only ray of hope here. A friendship between an animal and a human may e unusual, but she liked it...

One day while Arnica slept, Helmich, Orion's best friend and another cricket, met him next to her mattress. He said: "Why not tease Arnica a bit? Hoho!"
