he worked half-time in a French bakery in Aix-en-Valdaire. The store had narrow walls and a low ceiling. Sometimes, of course, it was hard. But Mila loved her job because she always met a lot of interesting people. The rest of the time, she kneaded and baked baguettes and decorated pastries with chocolate shavings.
One day, a really strange man stepped through the wooden door of the bakery. He wore a wooden hat and had an unshaven face and green eyes like a piercing cretasnake.
"What can I do for you?"
The man said nothing. He just stared at her. Then at her bread. Then at her again.
